汉口原租界风貌区是汉口近代历史发展的见证，具有特定历史阶段的独特风貌。黎黄陂路街区位于汉口原租界风貌区的俄租界范围内，设立于1896年。俄租界内集中了大量高等公寓与住宅。建筑形式多以俄式小型公寓和公共建筑为主，没有大型公建的华丽和大气，而有着一种宁静而又舒适的生活气息。当前对老建筑的改造，对于任何一个国家和地区，都已经成为一个重要的专业课题：如何洗尽时间的铅华，还历史的原貌？如何赋予一段历史在当今时代存在的现实意义？这是我们在设计中主要研究和探讨的课题。我们本着客观、谨慎和负责的原则， 作了一些初步研究和尝试，抛砖引玉，供所有参与和关心同类项目的人们参考。同时我们也把这一份微薄之力，作为对武汉这座老城的献礼，希望并相信每一个武汉人对自己城市都有一份关爱，能够很好的继承、维护和发扬这些优秀历史建筑，并把它作为城市的一个永久的有机部分，永远的保存下去 。

The street of Lihuangpi and its surrounding areas were once a foreign settlement within the Russian Concession in Hankou District. ‘Officially enclosed’ in 1896, the Russian Concession was occupied by a large number of luxurious residential buildings. The houses were fashioned in the style of small apartments and Russian public architecture, hence rather than looking grand and imposing, they have an air of comfort and gravitas.
 
The renovation and restoration of old historical buildings is an important professional topic everywhere. How shall we scrub off the accumulative grime of decades past and reveal the true facade? Furthermore, how shall we examine a certain period of time in history, and determine its significance and relevance to us today? We’d researched carefully and initiated a few attempts, conscious all the while to be objective and responsible. Hopefully our meager efforts could attract interested colleagues in the same field to come forward with their no doubt much more valuable contribution. This project also serves as a heartfelt gift from us to our beloved Wuhan, where every citizen can inherit, preserve, and endorse these beautiful historical buildings, treat them as an organic and permanent part of a whole; to keep, to care for, and to, forever lovingly, behold.
